At the suggestion of staffers, Adams drew "three or four pages of [the superhero] the Fly", but did not receive encouragement from Simon. Now, Neal Adams's Batman stories are collected in a new series of paperbacks that shows the process of introduction, adaptation, and innovation that the young artist brought to this legendary crimefighter. Then a pair of giant wolves answers the whistled summons their eyes gleaming with kill-lust in the moonlight…” My favorite kind of lust in the moonlight! In May 2012, Marvel announced that Adams would work on the X-Men again with The First X-Men, a five-issue miniseries drawn and plotted by him and written by Christos Gage.

Editor Julius Schwartz had made some steps in the right direction with his “new look” relaunch in the sixties, but his attempt to revitalise Batman wouldn’t truly bear fruit until the seventies. He did a smattering of additional horror and war stories, respectively, for the two publishers, and then, after being turned down by DC's Batman editor Julius Schwartz, approached fellow DC editor Murray Boltinoff in the hopes of drawing for Boltinoff's Batman team-up title The Brave and the Bold. A second teaming of Batman with Superman already shows improvement, with Bates supplying an improved plot and fewer words, while Adams creates great aliens. Later on, when the imitat—or Bob Kane “ghosts” and Carmine [Infantino] did it, I really didn’t feel that that was Batman, but that was the campy time, when they were doing the TV show. Robin’s body in the foreground is so big it adds a level of dimensional perspective that makes it appear life-size.These stories ushered in the “James Bond in a cape era,” which made Batman not only a darker detective figure but also an adventuring character and a man of incredible ability. Like any ordinary person, Commissioner Gordon concludes that Riddler is going to rob the mint, but Batman later reveals this simple solution to be a red herring, with a "real clue [hidden] inside the fake clue. Although they made all sorts of additions and clarifications to the Batman mythos that have grounded decades of stories, perhaps the greatest single thing that O’Neil and Adams brought to their Batman tales was a rich and heavy atmosphere. The truth is, after the 60’s show, there was a group of talent responsible for bringing Batman to his pulp past.

And a story that if someone is going to draw a world in the center of the earth with Dinosaur evolved people, dinosaur fights and a neanderthal Batman and Robin, then you darn well want it to be Neal Adams rather than Carmine Infantino!I think it illustrates that Batman himself and the world around him were really the focus of the duo.
