Who else could deliver traditional and outlaw country tunes like “If You’ve Got the Money Honey I’ve Got the Time,” “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys,” and “Only Daddy That’ll Walk the Line” and in the same show tap the Great American Songbook for beautifully rendered performances of songs like Hoagy Carmichael and Mitchell Parish’s “Stardust” and Irving Berlin’s “Blue Skies”? It offers no liner notes and fewer alternate versions, but it embraces the lion’s share of the most interesting such versions and costs far less than you’d spend for all the deluxe editions.

Still, as Nelson says in liner notes for Live at Budokan, a new two-CD and DVD release of the show, “Music is a great communicator…[people] will hear it in whatever language they are listening. Clam shell outer box containing 6 CD's inside individual cardboard sleeves with inner cellophane protective sleeves. In this candid, intimate portrait of a life lived in music, Mick Fleetwood sheds new light on well-known points in his history, including many incredible moments of recording and touring with Fleetwood Mac, as well as personal insights from a man who has been a major player in blues and rock 'n' roll since his teens. The group Fleetwood Mac has sold over 140 million records worldwide, and they continue to attract a huge following, selling out their biggest arena tour ever in 2013, decades after their debut. This release on CD could have included more alternate outtakes from the Super Deluxe editions of Tusk and Rumours, making it a better value than the LPs and more comprehensive for those who missed out on the earlier editions or just prefer to listen to alternate takes alone.Le coffret contient les versions alternatives des albums de 1975 à 1982, la période avec Buckingham et Nicks qui a vu le groupe renaître en se tournant vers un pop rock au son californien qui allait les propulser parmi les plus célèbres des années 70 : Fleetwood Mac, Rumours (chef d’œuvre absolu), Tusk, Live, Mirage et Tango in the night.

For those who have listened to the original albums many times, it is a refreshing listening experience to hear these alternative versions. The few tracks that I played when it arrived sounded a but dull to me, despite the claimed re-master. Now, following the recent death of Christine McVie, who joined the band way back in 1970, those chances have dropped to zero.

The choices of alternate songs gives a nice change from the original but with enough of the OG songs we know and love to be a nice bonus. Mirage is without doubt a superb album, capturing and showing off everything that is great about Fleetwood Mac in their earlier years. In other cases, it’s the opposite: you can hear how the group took a flat-sounding, relatively prosaic recording, added musical touches and production magic, and transformed it into an extraordinary final rendition.

Le seul avantage est de les trouver tous réunis ensemble et pouvoir réentendre la magnifique Christine McVie nous chanter une de ses plus belles chansons, Songbird (sur Rumours). Before we discuss the music, a caveat: for some listeners, The Alternate Collection will represent more of a repackaging than a revelation. Finally, the group's admirers will have a unique portrait of what made Mick and the rest of the group tick in the midst of their massive success and personal trials. One example of that: The Alternate Collection’s “Suma’s Walk,” an amiable but unremarkable instrumental riff that with a new name, beefed-up instrumentation, and terrific vocals, became the Mirage ear candy known as “Can’t Go Back. This is one of those Fleetwood Mac albums that is a definite grower, the songs perhaps don't have the 'commercial' sound, like on their other popular releases, but seem to resonate further after repeat listening.

Nice collection, CD version mirrors the same aesthetics of the vinyl set, all CD faces have the same style of artwork as the corresponding LP center labels. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Three of the albums that Cat Stevens released prior to Catch Bull at Four—1970’s Mona Bone Jakon and Tea for the Tillerman and 1971’s Teaser and the Firecat—have been the subject of gargantuan golden-anniversary box sets that included up to five CDs each with new mixes, alternate versions, demos, concert material, and rehearsal tapes, plus Blu-rays, vinyl LPs, hardcover books, frameable artwork, and assorted other memorabilia.Does Fleetwood Mac’s music from 1975 - 1987 need a review…no…if you are viewing this page and reading the reviews you know all about classic Mac. With my copy, though I encountered a sharp screech on more than 2 occasions in the first track alone. Unlike some other band albums I’ve heard as alternatives there aren’t any short ‘filler’ clips from the studio. The only complaint, if i must, is the thin cellophane sleeves inside the cardboard sleeves for each CD.
