Everything is going rather well, with the Nightingale Woods' team pulling together like a little family, until the arrival of Andrew's son Justin, who has very firm ideas about what should be happening at the hotel while his father is away. It started off quite slow, I wasn’t as engrossed from the start as I normally am with a Katie Fforde book. There is a welcome visit to picturesque Provence to add to the fun, and an intriguing look back at courageous deeds of the past too. This is another one of Katie Fforde’s books that are set in the 19602, and like the previous 2 “A Wedding In The Country’ and “A Wedding In Provence”, it just doesn’t’ really work, and I really can’t just say why, but I think the main issue that it doesn’t have the sparkle and wit of Katie Fforde’s previous book.

I bet you’re sitting there thinking, ‘Oh, here she goes again with her I-don’t-know-if-I-wanted-to-smack-him-or-climb-him-like-a-tree thing again! Set in Dorset, England 1966, "One Enchanted Evening" is a feel-good romance novel that would make you want to go there if you're like me, who hasnt been to the place; if only to experience rustic house hotels. Her determination to succeed is endearing, and although her over-confidence does make things complicated at times, she rises to the challenge when provoked into action - and there is a lot here to provoke her, especially when it comes to Justin. While helping her mother she meets Justin, the owner's son, a chef himself who isn’t happy having a woman in his kitchen! I was totally invested in the outcome of her endeavours and it was heartbreaking to think that this charming and quirky little country haven might be sold.

I have already bought some of her backlist books, including one of the books featuring Meg and her friends, and will be adding her future releases to my TBR. It does acknowledge the lack of time to process events at some point but I felt that there were opportunities where this could have been dealt with. Head back to Dorset in the 1960’s where Megs mother Louise invites her to the hotel she’s currently running. With its delightful characters, vivid scenery descriptions and beautiful setting at Nightingale Woods Hotel in Dorset, this book takes readers on an enchanting journey full of hope, love and adventure. This takes you through the nitty gritty bits of keeping one running in the 1960s when en suite rooms were yet an emerging trend. If you want that cosy easy read, with charming and delightful characters, some funny moments over the nickname given to one of the guests. It added a little bit of mystery to the book, and it wove beautifully through the romance without seeming like a side quest. It all added to the beauty of this book though, making it a great all round package and again has left me wanting more.
