I get the sense that Watterson is preaching to the choir in this book- it reads very much as if the reader is already convinced. Meggan Watterson is a theologian who studied at Harvard Divinity School and Columbia University’s Theological Seminary. It certainly hasn’t ever added up, there has always been something missing, something that rendered the scales uneven, surely this man who turned the world upside down would not exclude women from his ministry?

The author narrates her own work, so the only benefit from the sample is that you can hear what her voice sounds like. It frequently brought me to tears, as I was resonating so deeply with the beautiful messages shared within. I also agree that humans are inherently good, and that sin may have been misunderstood, and that the dismissal of the Gnostic texts is completely arbitrary and in some cases patriarchal.Like a feminist Indiana Jones, Meggan Watterson goes on a mystical adventure to uncover the hidden teachings of one of Christ’s closest companions and disciples, Mary Magdalene, and her discovery could change history. MEGGAN WATTERSON is the author of REVEAL, The Sutras of Unspeakable Joy, The Divine Feminine Oracle, and Mary Magdalene Revealed. And I think most of those bitches were pretty competent women who were tired of being treated as inferior by guys who weren't as smart as they were. The powers are Darkness, Craving, Ignorance, Craving for Death, Enslavement to the physical body, The False Peace of the Flesh and the the compulsion of Rage. It’s nearing a closer proximity of what’s actually true for me…If I could start again, I would start with Mary Magdalene, because she is the one who remembers him.

If you are interested in feminist religious philosophy and Christianity, this book might be for you. A shocking lack of references, very little content from the actual gospel of Mary Magdalene, and too much blog-post type memoir/sermon-like writing. Mary Magdalene Revealed is one of my favourite books because by reading it I end up in a state of deep contemplation. Or to be more accurate - Mary Magdalene's gospel is the missing piece, but Meggan Watterson's interpretation of the gospel showed me the way it fit. It was recommended by a friend whose perspective on life, love of all creatures, acceptance, curiosity, empathy, calm and action I greatly respect.

They are sisters in this holy mission of bringing Mary's breathtakingly beautiful gospel to the world, today. In the author’s attempt to reveal her own humanity, she crosses (in my opinion) the “too much information” line in sharing her private life and issues. I picked up Meggan Watterson’s book mainly out of curiosity, I saw the book floating around my Goodreads and thought: “hey, why not?
